Stage 4 breast cancer?
Saturday, October 17th, 2009What is the life expectancy for someone with stage IV breast cancer, age is early 60’s. They’ve decided to only treat it with hormones (anti-estrogen) because of how far it’s spread.
Hi,
In medicine , life expectancy for that condition, lower than 50%.
But in real life, there’s a lot survival from this condition. People with cancer need all support and learn to be positive thinker, that could be a major help for them to survive.
Contact any cancer caregiver group in your country, gather and learn everything you need to know to survive as : keep out infection or reduce pain.
Be positive and supportive.

Stage 4 Breast Cancer Treatments.?
Saturday, October 10th, 2009I recently found out that my grandmother has stage 4 breast cancer. I was wondering if anyone knows of good treatments for this. I’m not sure if its HER2+ or HER2-. Any advice would be wonderful.
Thanks in advance.
There is no treatment that will cure her of breast cancer at this stage. Her oncologist should know what is best for her and would recommend treatment according to how the cancer responds to what the doctor prescribes.
There are a ton of clinical studies out there that are on the verge of possibly being mainstream. They could sign her up for one of these. A co-worker of mine has a wife that has had stage 4 colon cancer for eight years and is doing well, the cancer does not go away but with treatment stays at bay.
You should spend time with her and learn about her so that you will have great stories to cherish forever. My grandfather had cancer, I grew up in his household and got to know him during the last week he was alive more than I did all the years living with him. What I regret was not getting the recipes of the wonderful dishes only he could cook. Sure, there are cookbooks that have what he cooked, but he put in special ingredients that I cannot replicate.
During the last week we grew more together than we did all the years before that. I wish your family the best and your grandma many, many more birthdays!
Blessings to you both,
Dave
